Mission

Latino Student Fund (LSF) mission is to provide opportunities for a strong academic foundation for PreK-12th grade students of Hispanic descent to promote higher education and professional leadership.

History

The Latino Student Fund Scholarship Program was founded in 1994 in Washington, DC, by community leaders, educators and parents who recognized the overwhelming need to combat combat school dropout rates in the Latino community by providing better access to educational opportunities. The Tutoring Program was founded in 1998 to provide supplemental academic support to at-risk and underprivileged Latino youth.

Goals

  1.  To provide financial aid grants and mentoring support to Latino families;
  2. To further improve the academic performance of Latino students in our programs;
  3.  To increase our community outreach program efforts by building more effective collaborative partnerships with independent schools and community-based organizations;
  4.  To help parents and families gain the skills and confidence necessary to successfully navigate the U.S. educational system.
