Showcase of Scholars

Event Overview

Mother and Daughter at the LSF Showcase of Scholars ReceptionThe Showcase of Scholars is held at the end of each academic year to celebrate our students and their many accomplishments. Students in grades K-12 receive certificates of completion for their hard work and awards are given to those students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, outstanding leadership qualities, and exemplary work within the community. The event is preceded by a reception for students, families, and guests where they have a chance to network and members of the community have the opportunity to get to know some of the LSF Scholars.

This year’s event was once again held at the Inter-American Development Bank. The event featured two distinguished speakers: Mercy Jimenez, the Senior Vice President for Fannie Mae and Hector Morales, US Executive Director of the Inter-American Development Bank. Opening remarks were given by the new Vice President of the IDB, Mr. Carlos Hurtado Lopez. Gonzaga College High School senior, Eduardo Dorado gave the Senior Keynote Address and we are proud to note that Mr. Dorado will be attending Boston College in the fall.

Estrellas (high school Scholars) and Estrellitas (elementary and middle school Scholars) crossed the stage and received their certificates from community members and honored guests who are so instrumental and supporting the Latino Student Fund. Congratulations to all of our Scholars for another fantastic year!
